I have a little concealer habit at the moment and naturally couldn't resist picking up the concealer L'Oreal have bought out to go with their BB collection. It comes in one shade that blends out to suit all skin tones and apply's with the roller ball built into the tube. It has a really thin consistency a little like it's BB cream counterpart however it is pretty pigmented and really brightens up the under eye area. It says it has caffeine in too which I'm not sure really does anything noticeable but the cool metal ball does really wake up your eyes in the morning just from it's temperature. L'Oreal have marketed this for eye bags and imperfections - I personally find it too light and thin for any blemishes but it is a lovely concealer for the under eyes. I think I'll get lots more use from this when the weather starts to warm up and my skin is naturally more glowing. It fits really nicely next to the BB cream by the brand and is a nice extra to the range.

I've had this blusher quite a while and it's not really been tested out until quite recently. I picked it up when Boots had a buy one get one half price on the L'Oreal range of BB and CC creams. It doesn't have any of the standard BB (beauty balm) qualities but does follow the colour change technology that the other face creams in their range have. It starts off clear and when blended in turns into quite a bright pink but blended out turns into a subtle light pink colour. It's super velvety to the touch and blends out well without making a mess of your foundation and isn't sticky whatsoever with its gel like formula. I'm massively into my coral's and peach tones at the moment so this isn't getting much use but when I'm feeling like I want a natural pink cheek this is perfect. It looks really good with just a BB cream for a natural summertime glow.

I'm a sucker for a bit of marketing ... have I ever mentioned that? So when I saw the world be introduced to a new formation on my beloved BB cream I just had to get involved. The CC cream is a more problem specific version of the Nude Magique BB cream I raved about here. This version of the BB cream is one of my all time favourites so I had high hopes for this CC cream formation. 

The creams come in 3 formations Green - anti redness, Purple - transforms tiredness and Apricot - revives tired skin. I get quite a few pimples, spots and have redness around my nose so went with the green anti-redness formation of the cream. It has the same consistency as their BB cream but for me with this particular shade thats where the comparison kind of ends. 

It doesn't blend as well onto my skin tone and leaves me a little green. I thought this might have been just me thinking about it too much as I'd watched the apple green formula try and blend into my skin but after wards my boyfriend did utter the line 'wow is the hulk look in at the moment or something' confirming my suspicions that this does leave a green a tinge to my face. It also doesn't blend out to my skin tone and leaves my face a lot darker than my natural skin tone. I've tried to photograph this above not sure it comes across as well as my real life tinge but I gave it a go. 

However despite all this it is a good base for my foundation right now. I have massive winter skin with lots of pimples and random red splotches this gives a toned down and somewhat even base for my foundation. This however for me could never be worn alone - I adore the Nude Magique BB cream and will happily wear this without foundation over the top but sadly can't say the same about this CC cream. I will easily make my way through this tube as right now it's my go to base but I'm not sure it's right for my light skin tone or everyday wear. It's just a little too green for me - I am tempted to try the purple and apricot versions though through sheer intrigue so please do leave your links if you've reviewed them or tweet me @georginacallen 

Dr Jart + BB Water Fuse Beauty Balm

I'm a little bit obsessed with Anna's blog Viviannadoesmakeup especially everything she loves when it comes to skincare. So when I read her post singing the praises of the Dr Jart water Fuse BB cream I naturally had to buy it.

This is one of the best BB creams I've tried - and now I've actually tried a lot. It's normally £18 which is on the pricey side for a BB cream in my opinoin but it does always seem to have a third off at boots here and £12 is more than reasonable for this generous 50ml tube. You only need a small amount of this product it melts into the skin but spreads really well. It's an SPF 25 which I love as it means I can keep loving it all summer long (if we ever get one) and it's super hydrating.

Dr Jart have a range of four BB creams which are noted to do the following:

Dr Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm SPF40 - Provides high SPF40 protection with anti-oxidents. A slightly glossy, low coverage cream which helps fight ageing. Particularly suitable for those over 30.

Dr Jart+ Platinum Beauty Balm SPF30 - Provides high coverage in a light application. The moisturising lotion is particularly suitable for those in their 30s.

Dr Jart+ Regenerating Beauty Balm SPF30 - Provides strong coverage for redness and spots which won't rub off as easily as traditional cosmetics. Skin will look brighter, whilst still suitable for problem and sensitive skin. Particularly suitable for those between 20 and 35.

Dr Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF25 - ideal for those aged 20-35s with a soft application which gives natural, fresh looking skin and controls sebum production.

I love that each one is targetted to different age ranges with different needs from the product. It makes picking one so easy. If they all follow suit to the water fuse I've tried I think they'll be winners across the board. This really does give a lovely natural fresh finish just like it describes and I find it lasts really well only touching up problem area's with concealer throughout the day. I'd love to try the regenerating beauty balm for bad skin days as the description makes it sounds more like a foundation than a BB cream so I think that is on my wish list to see what it offers. 

I'm trying quite a few Dr Jart products at the moment and am loving them all - one of my favourite brands at the moment which is leaving my skin very happy indeed.

I've been using a couple of different BB creams for a while and all of a sudden they both ran out so I thought I'd pick a new one up whilst doing my weekly shop. There wasn't much on offer so I decided to give this a go as it tested pretty well in store. The L'Oreal Nude Magique BB cream is very different to any BB cream I've tried. It applies white and as you blend it in it turns into a light BB cream. It's hard to explain I've tried to show it in action above but whatever the technology involved it does do a good job of blending into my natural skin tone. The downside of this is it feels quite grainy and it's kind of odd to apply as it feels a little like your having a mini exfoliation. However after a few applications I've gotten over it and I have to say I love it. It claims to do the following 5 things: 

1. Flawless Coverage (I wouldn't say it does this it does even out skin tone but it's in no way going to give a flawless finish unless you start off with amazing skin) 

2. Perfectly Even Skin Texture (I think this is such an odd claim - it doesn't do this at all as evening out any blemishes or pimples is quite a mean feat for a light coverage BB cream) 

3. Fresh Dewy Glow (It definitely offers this, it gives a lovely glow to the skin without it being too shiny and shimmery and actually has one of the best dewy finishes I've tried) 

4. 24h Hydration (I wouldn't go as far as 24 hours but it does leave my skin feeling fresh during the working day it doesn't dry out on the skin and because of this is the perfect base for foundation) 

5. Protects with SPF12 (most BB creams have some kind of SPF and this one is no different) 

Right now my skin isn't ready to go out BB cream alone (I'm getting there) but this evens out my redness so well and I'm so nearly ready to wear this alone without foundation on top. Saying that though it's a brilliant base of light coverage foundations as it is so hydrating for me and really does even out the skin. It lasts well and blends into my own skin tone really well - I'm super pale right now and I often find the light shade isn't light enough for me but this one is just the right shade. I really enjoy using the product after getting over the weird texture as you apply it really does leave my skin feeling and looking fresh.

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream Light

 

 I'm a little late on the Maybelline BB wagon as I know it's been out for a while - but the L'Oreal Revitalift BB Cream I reviewed back in April here has lasted me well and I very nearly repurchased it. Never one to think there isn't better out there though I wanted to give the Maybelline version a go. It retails in Boots for £7.99 (although is currently on 2 for £10 across the brand) and is available in four shades - light, universal glow, medium and dark. I normally buy medium with BB creams as I find once blended in they suit my skin tone better but with Maybelline the medium was just too dark for my naturally fair skin so I went with light. 

I thought I'd love the out of line named Universal Glow but in the store the colour just seemed not to blend in with my skin at all. I'd love to see reviews on this shade so if anyone has any please link below. 

I really like this cream overall I think it does what it says on the back of the bottle more than any other BB cream I've used. It blends really well to my skin tone and gives good every day coverage leaving my skin glowing without the need for any radiance products on top. For my skin that's pretty dry at the moment I do need to use moisturiser with it or else I do get left with dry patches which is probably down to my skin tone more than anything else. 

Overall I really like this version of the BB cream phenomina. Will I buy it again? Probably not but only because I am ridiculosuly fickle and I'm sure something else will be on the market that I'll be lusting after when this one comes out. However for now this cream is firmly in my every day make-up routine! 

 

MUA Beauty Balm

I have had this product for quite a while now and I wasn't actually going to put a post up on it but through a love for BB cream and mixed feelings I kind of wanted to post it to have as a bit of a comparison to the other BB creams I've used. Loreal Revitalift and Garnier. I've used both pretty religiously and would say BB cream is now cemented into my make-up routine weather as a primer or base for good skin days. I love MUA as a brand so was excited when they bought they jumped on the BB bandwagon and bought out this very inexpensive version. It retails for just £4 so is a lot cheaper than many of its counterparts. 

I've used this probably 20+ times now and I keep wanting to fall in love with it - but I can't. My head is telling me its labelled as a BB but my face is saying cheap foundation. This product is so thick it's thicker than probably all of my foundations and offers pretty much full coverage. I have had really bad skin recently so the full coverage has kind of worked for me but it is certainly not a BB cream. I've noticed their website is listing it as a BB foundation now which after just getting my head around the delights of BB creams has totally confused me as to me it is just a foundation I don't think there is anything BB about it. 

You can really feel this product on your face and for me its only exacerbated my skin problems. As I said I have used this a lot now but for me it just hasn't delivered. I'm not sure if as a brand they missed the point of a BB cream which for me means light weight with an almost primer like quality to it. The packaging says Beauty Balm and the website says BB foundation which maybe says to me they've noticed people's full coverage comments and have gone down that route on-line. If I'm going out and I have bad skin I will pop this on because it offers the fullest coverage I own but a lot of buffing does need to take place to ensure a flawless look. 

I know a lot of people have written reviews saying they love this product - obviously as its skin each person will have a different experience but I thought I'd pop mine up for anyone thinking about purchasing a this product in the future as I know I would have found this helpful to read prior to buying.

L'Oreal Revitalift Repair 10 BB Cream Medium Review

I had my first encounter with BB cream in January when I tried out the Garnier one in shade medium. I finally ran out a little while ago and went heading for its replacement. With so many on the market now it was hard to choose. But I've recently been reading into anti-ageing products being about prevention rather than cure so thought this Revitalift Repair 10 cream would be a good bet. It was on offer in Boots for £9.99 from £14.99 and looks like it still is at the moment. 

It claims to do a whopping 10 things compared to Garnier's 5. 

1. Wrinkles appear reduced

2. Skin feels firmer 

3. Covers Imperfections

4. Enhances Skintone

5. Skin surface appears even

6. Skin feels smoother

7. Illuminates Complexion

8. Hydrates for 24hrs

9. Covers Age Spots

10.Protects Against UV

It's definitely an impressive list. I found the consistency very similar to all the BB creams I've tried and tested in stores it's feels a lot more moisturiser than foundation though which I really liked. My skin felt quite amazing after applying it. It's got a really soft consistency and does everything a BB cream offers plus a little more in my opinoin. I think it's price tag is very fair as it has some anti-ageing qualities to it too - obviously I can't comment on it making wrinkles appear reduced but it does leave my skin tone really even. 

I personally use BB cream as a primer as I prefer a fuller coverage. Above is my makeup applied with just the BB cream and a little bit of blush. I think it works in really nicely and gives a good even complexion. I do find though that alone it can do a little blotchy and wear off quite quickly throughout the day so even though this picture looks good it is taken just after application and day to day I always apply foundation on top. It gives such a good even base for any foundation though and I really love the product. 

The packaging is very generous maybe even a bit too generous. It comes in a box wrapped in plastic inside a box. I love the pump element to it though and once you have unwrapped all the layers you get a really easy to use product. 

I am really intrigued by the whole anti-ageing prevention concept at the moment so this product is working really well for me. I think I prefer it to the Garnier one I previously used as it's alot softer and creamier in application. Also the pump dispenser is perfect! 

Which BB creams do you use? I think I want more of them in my life ... :) 

BB Cream - Miracle Skin?

I'm forever on the search for as perfect foundation, and I'm still yet to find it. However I'm currently very loyal to Clinique Super Moisture as it ticks all the boxes but I still think it's missing a certain something when it comes to consistency. Recently amongst a post Christmas detox and revision hell my skin has been a nightmare and the thickness of my usual foundation is just making it worse. I've tried everything to cover up my breakout but nothing has really done the job without making my skin 10x worse when I take it off. 

I've read alot about the new fad of BB creams and wasn't really sure they'd live up the hype of giving you miracle skin. Imagining them to be just like tinted moisturiser I didn't really see the point. However with my skin so bad and the need for something lighter to cover up I thought I'd give it ago. 

I know a lot of brands are making these at the moment but I found this Garnier one at my local Sainsbury's so was really convenient. It was available there in medium and light and was priced at £9.99. I chose medium as I thought it would work better with my ever changing face colour and love for fake tan. For a cream for me it would be too expensive but I paid roughly the same for tinted moisturiser anyway so thought even if that was all it offered it was reasonable. 

This product is like nothing I've ever tried before and I don't really know where to start in describing it. It's a tinted moisturiser, a foundation and a face cream all in one. 

The box claims it does the following 5 things: 

evens tones and boost glow 

blurs imperfections 

smooths fine lines 

24 hr hydration

SPF 15 UV protection 

In the large picture above my skin on that side is pretty horrendous at the moment I have a massive breakout across my right cheek and even though you can still make it out after applying the BB cream it is perfect for going out. I am ridiculously impressed, it's as soft as a face cream with better coverage than some foundations I have tried. Hopefully using this in the day will leave my skin a bit more open to recover from it's current state . However I think even after it's recovery I will definitely be using this product from now on.
