Non-Beauty Buys - Storage & Home

Heart Tea Light Holders - £2.99 The Range

I've been majorly MIA from Magpie Obsessions over the last month or so but am now determined to get my mojo back and get back into it. Life has kind of taken over and most of May has been a whirlwind of trying to sort out two naked calendar photo shoots with the girls for THCF. The photo's look unreal and I can't wait to share them in September when our official launch is planned! In the meantime I've also been sorting out my finances so have put beauty spending on a bit of a back burner so really haven't had all that much to write about. However it's now all in order and I'm more than enjoying my time spent in boots at the moment oops. I've also been attempting to reorganise my dressing space so when it's all complete I can fully share my storage finds. I just wanted to share some of my favourites on here now whilst I test out some amazing products I've picked up recently :)

Current Make-Up Storage

It turns out my little blog got noticed by all the people who bought me birthday presents this year. And my 'Obsessing Over Storage' post featuring the Helmer Drawers from Ikea was particularly noticed by my dad who popped to Ikea to pick them up for me. I adore them - I adore them so much I had to do a little post on it. I am the weirdest organised freak ever, I write agenda's for meetings that probably don't even really need agenda's. I have spreadsheets for everything, dividers for life, a huge diary, alarms and just about everything meaning I can free my brain of the lists I am always creating in order for them to written down.

Storage for me is no different - I want all my make-up seperated into little compartments and displayed neatly. Preparing to move in with my fella in less than a year fingers crossed I decided I should start gradually sorting my wardrobe, and make-up out. I have split my helmer drawers currently by base make-up, blushers and bronzers, eyes, wipes and pads, creams and lotions, and finally mini hair bits. This is currently being trialled and when I have decided how to split it all I will make pretty little labels for all the drawers haha. GEEK.

I also have my brush storage on top that I mentioned here which I love. I also have a bag from Clinique holding all my lipsticks at the moment. It's a little bit trashy having lipsticks in a bag covered in lipsticks but I kind of like that about it.

I can't wait to get a bigger room with a proper dressing table to do this organisation thing really seriously - this is just the beginning :)

New Brush Storage

After my post 'Obsessing Over Storage' I have literally been obsessing over storage. I was in a really big Tesco Home store the other day and was lusting over some pretty stationary (really weird obsession I have) and I spotted this acrylic pen pot. It is actually on a ball bearing coaster so spins around making all the little compartments accessible when it's on a shelf or in a cupboard. I adore this little pot it has compartments all different sizes perfect for storing brushes, cotton buds, tweezers and just everything you reach for daily. The best bit is that because it was in the stationary isle is only cost me £3.86 - I swear if this was in a storage or cosmetic isle it would be about £15. I can't find it online but I've seen it in my larger Tesco Extra too so think it's about and they had loads in the Tesco Home I bought it in. It's made me realise that just searching down the storage isle might not have the best options!

Obsessing Over Storage

1. John Lewis Acrylic Cosmetics Organiser £11.50
2. Ikea Helmer Drawer Unit £24.95
3. John Lewis Small Acrylic Cosmetics Organiser £7.50
4. 3 Piece Clear Make-Up Storage Bags £6

I have always been insanely organised and with more time on my hands this has stepped up many notches recently. My shoes now sit neatly on a little rack arranged by colours, and I constantly have about three spreadsheets open letting me know how life is panning out. The only area of my life that seems to always be in a mess is that of make-up, hair and skin care products. So I've put this little list together of quite sensible birthday present idea's haha or just the things I will be buying to get my collections in order. I am also very aware that I am planning on moving in with a boy at some point soon and I think my collections in the state they are in will just make him run a mile so this kind of organisation is for the good of my relationship. I've seen lots of acrylic organisers on eBay and such but particularly loved these John Lewis ones which are surprisingly very competitively priced too. Also the 3 piece make-up bags are something I just need some of - I think clear make-up bags are a god send in my wardrobe and I need more of them to contain my collection.

The key piece of this storage post is the Helmer Drawer Unit I've seen this on more blogs than I could link to but mostly I have lusted after it from seeing Lily from What I Heart Today's incredible organisation of it in this video and it would just be ideal to house all my cosmetics and skincare. At only £25 I think its a brilliant buy too and will fit in perfectly with my room and white furniture.

If anyone has done a post or video on their storage please send me the links on here or twitter @georgincallen because I am loving seeing everyone's idea's and inspirations at the moment :)
