January Favourites - 2014

Tresemme Glossing Spray (review) Dr Jart + Waterfuse BB Cream (review) Simple Age Resisting Night Cream (review) Real Techniques Blusher Brush (review) Bourjois Cream Blush (review) Becca Watermelon Beach Tint.

I've done so well this month and avoided all beauty stores. I'll have a huge empties post soon it's lovely getting rid of all the products I built up last year. So ready to only have the products I love in my collection and it's fun getting through stuff I forgot I even had. My only haircare favorite this month is the Tresemme glossing spray - it's perfect to add a bit of life to the lengths of my hair and also gives it that extra gloss when straightening or curling it properly. The only skincare product I've been obsessed with this month is the Simple age resisting night cream. I haven't used this in ages but when I found it and used it again I remembered how much I love it. It's thick and so moisturising perfect after spending the day in a dry office and with this horrible weather - it's a night time saviour.

Alongside this the Dr Jart + Water Fuse BB cream has been a brilliant base for my make-up. It's light and moisturising feel is brilliant in this cold weather. I've fallen back in love with with the Bourjois cream blush again after using it with my real techniques stippling brush. I've used it pretty much everyday this month - it's the perfect natural pinch with a hint of peach. Finally the Becca watermelon beach tint has come back in my life I mainly use it as a lip tint at the moment but equally love it as a blush for nights out.

Simple Age Resisting Cleansing Wipes

Simple Age Resisting Cleansing Wipes £3.99 Boots

I feel like I never use make-up wipes but really thinking about it I go through them pretty quickly as I'm always picking up a new pack in the supermarket. I am a huge lover of the Simple brand and it is a massive part of my skincare routine so I often tend to pick up any extra bits when I need too. I really liked the age resisting moisturisers when I tried them a few months ago the green tea goodness and first against premature ageing is a winner for me when I'm looking at skin care.

This is less of a review more just my thoughts because I really like these face wipes - they are super fresh and remove my makeup with ease. I know wipes aren't something I'd use all the time but I love having these with me when I stay over at friends or my boyfriends. I find them ideal in the morning and they really wake me skin up without being overly harsh. Overall Simple ticks all my boxes when it comes to skincare and these wipes are no exception.

Simple - Eye Make-Up Remover

I've had this post in draft so long that I've nearly finished this product. It's one of the best eye make-up removers I've tried. It wipes away my liquid eye-liner with ease and is so soft on my eyelashes. This bad boy even manages to remove Benefit They're Real after quite a few pads anyways! It retails for £3.39 here. It fits into my evening skin care routine so easily and I think this is one product I'll be using for many bottles to come.

Simple - Revitalising Eye Roll On

I picked this up as part of a three for two offer as a 'i'd just like to see what it does' kind of product. I have never really felt the need for a revitalising eye roll-on as I mostly rely on caffeine to wake me up. However as massive Simple Skincare junkie I thought I'd give it ago also at £4.99 in boots it was one of the cheapest compared to similar products.

It has a little metal ball at the top which aims to cool and massage away the look of tired eyes. I think this product works because the metal ball is cold is shocks you awake. I tried to put this product in different places, the bathroom, my cosmetics drawer, and by my bed. No matter where I put it or what the temperature this little metal ball manages to stay so cold. After the initial shock of coldness on your morning eyes it is a nice product it wakes you up and does take away puffiness.

I think its ideal if you have an abnormally early morning like a plane ride or an early work event as it does brighten your eyes and force you awake. It isn't a product I reach for everyday or particularly have a need for its definitely a little extra that's handy for certain days. I think if you have sleepy eyes regularly and you need a little morning eye pick me up this is definitely the thing to have in your drawer.

Has anyone else tried this?

Simple - Pore Minimising Toning Cleanser

You know in diet magazines where the women have that one picture they saw of themselves and it just shocked them into a crazy regime of not eating - I had one of those moments but about my skin
- this was the picture -

My large pores have been something that have always bothered me about my skin - Benefits Porefessional has been a bit of a saviour (I blogged it here) but I've been looking for something to that minimises my pores when not wearing make-up and just more of a long term solution. This picture really pushed me into searching the isles of Boots trying to find a product that could help, and one that also didn't cost the earth to keep replacing.

Then I came across this little gem. The Simple Pore Minimising Toning Cleanser. It is available here for £4.99 in Boots I picked it up in a 3 for 2 which is still on at the moment.

This product minimised my pores make-up or no make-up within days of using it. However I thought surely it can't last - so I stopped using it for 3 or 4 days but my pores remained visibly smaller. I started using it again and I've now been using it for 2 weeks twice a day and I'm going to go as far as saying this has revolutionised the appearance of my skin.

In my recent  FOTD you can still my pores I know but they are considerably smaller and there is far less of them - here I'm not wearing any Porefessional just BB cream and foundation. I still love Porefessional but I'm finding I don't need to rely on it so much to even out my skin tone. On holiday I can just wear a BB cream to get an even complexion without the need for a pore minimising primer too. The product itself is lovely its clear, there is no fragrance and really cleanses my skin. I use it after my clinique clarifying lotion  followed by my Simple regeneration day or night cream

I know skin care is completely subjective as we all have such different skin types. But for me this product is a god send, I absolutely love it, its made my skin a much better base for make-up overall. If you do have problems with large pores this is definitely worth trying out in your skincare routine.

Simple Regeneration Age Resisting Day & Night Cream

I've been reading a lot into age products for the skin being all about prevention and not cure and that actually women in their 20's and 30's should be using them the most. It actually makes a lot of sense when you think about so I'm slowly trying to find products to introduce into my routine that help keep away wrinkles. I'm only 22 and I'm fully aware I don't have wrinkles right now but I'd also like to keep it this way for as long as possible without having to go under the knife.

I love simple as a brand and I've always gone back to their products for many years. I find them perfectly fuss free and that they never break me out and just work for my skin. I was looking for a face cream with SPF in for my holiday and came across these two products in boots. I love the packaging and pump application of them. I would say a different coloured lid or background to differentiate the day and night cream would be useful just because I'm always in rush.

I'm a little bit in love with these two creams - I often find my skin dries out so much in the sun but since using these my skin has felt plumper and fresher for a lot longer. The idea that it contains green tea goodness is probably a little gimmicky but knowing the benefits of green tea I think its added nutrients can only be a good thing. Having SPF in the day cream is brilliant in the summer months as you get a little more protection without needing extra products.

Overall I am so happy with the results of these two creams and hopefully time will show them to keep my skin youthful and glowing like it is since I've started using them. They are currently on three for two at boots and for £6.59 the day cream is available here  and night cream if £5.99 available here.

Simple Moisture Boost Hydro Mist

I was super excited for the Simple Moisture Boost Hydro Mist hit the shelves of my local Boots recently. It costs £5.99 and I picked it up in my three for two on some other simple goodies. I actually love the simple brand, it's clear no overly fragrance in the products just work so well on my skin and I've never had a problem with any of the items I've bought from the brand.

The Boost Hydro Mist promises to give tired skin a hydrated and naturally dewy look which I thought just sounds perfect. I've used this product for a good two weeks now on and off and throughout a weeks holiday when my skin is probably at its dryest and I do love this mist. I'm not sure it if actually does anything to my skin that a splash of water wouldn't but I really love it. I think its the novelty of having a little spritz of skin refreshment in my handbag that have made it a go to product on so many occasions. It's really refreshes my make-up and just adds a little wake up to my skin if I'm not wearing any.

I think that this may hold a bit of the placebo effect but I do think it makes my make-up look really alive and a little dewy after spritzing. I'm not entirely sure that it holds more qualities than a little bottle of water does but on holiday it really made my skin feel alive and hydrated in the hot sun. I think it's a product I could probably live without and I don't think I'll be repurchasing it as an essential in my make-up kit any time soon but it is definitely fun to have with you on holiday or just in your handbag. With this you don't need to re-apply make-up quite as often as it just keeps it a little more fresh after application. It's really miniature and fits perfectly in your hand bag so I think if your near any deals like the 3 for 2 currently in boots it's definitely worth throwing in your basket as the freebie but for me I can't really warrant the continual purchase when I'm not sure if it really offers anything I really need. My skin isn't overly dry so I don't need to keep it hydrated often and my foundation and skin products work to keep it in good condition alone anyway. I think for me its just a novelty I love having it in my hand bag and it feels wonderful to just spritz your face with it whilst your baking on the beach as it is so cooling.
