February Empties - 2014

I'm near to the end of so many make-up products but never quite finishing them off - the problem with having so much! I have finished some skin care and hair care though *yay*. I got the REN rose otto body wash in a sample set a while ago. I love the rose scent and it's a really lovely body wash. If you're looking to splurge then I do recommend it but I personally can't part with such money for a shower gel so I won't be repurchasing. It has been lovely to use though especially followed up by the matching moisturiser. 

I mentioned in a recent post that I was cooling off with micellar solution and using it as a pre-cleanse. Bioderma is the original and the first I tired - as much as I like it I don't think it does anything ground breakingly different to its drugstore counterparts so I won't be repurchasing this one. I've tried L'Oreal and this on and off and I can't see any more benefits in the more expensive bioderma brand so I'll be sticking to the brands I can pick up more easily and cheaply from now on. 

I've been using the Tresemme Liquid Gold complex for over 18 months now (first review) and it's happily sat within my collection that entire time. I really love it and I have no doubt it will be repurchased at some point - right now I'm trying some more natural alternatives but it's always an oil I reach back for. 

Clean start Welcome Matte moisturiser has been in my life (samples and full size) for about a year. I do love it and it's mattifying qualities. I think my skin has changed a lot in the last few months though and that maybe this range isn't for me anymore. I've become a little obsessed with skincare posts so I'm going to work out which is the next moisturiser I'll buy over the next few weeks or so. I really recommend this if you have teenage spot prone skin though it's an amazing range as a start out to skin care. 

Finally the Philip Kingsley Scalp Toner has been used up. I blogged about it a year ago - I didn't see any notable differences to it then and I still don't now. I could swear I just bought some water in a rather pretty bottle but surely that can't really be the case. Instead I'll settle with it just not working for me. I've recently picked up Superdrug's scalp toner for just £1.99 - a much more pleasant price if it doesn't work out - can you tell I'm desperate for scalp toners to do what they say on the box?

I definitely didn't need another hair texture spray but I do enjoy using and trying them out. I really love the Vo5 texturising spray  but I'm massively fickle and nothing's ever perfect. The Tresemme texture style divine definition spray is very similar. It's a little more 'airy' though by 'airy' I mean it kind of blasts your hair bigger at the time but does give you that same overall effect after a little settling down. It adds volume and texture to the hair whilst staying matte. I'm not a huge orange/ black fan so the can doesn't hugely appeal but the product is good. I don't think it's that much better or more outstanding than the Vo5 one though that comes in at nearly £2 cheaper so I'd still hold my opinion that the Vo5 spray is my favorite but if this is ever on offer or in your supermarket I would recommend it for the dry messy layered look.

I've done so well this month and avoided all beauty stores. I'll have a huge empties post soon it's lovely getting rid of all the products I built up last year. So ready to only have the products I love in my collection and it's fun getting through stuff I forgot I even had. My only haircare favorite this month is the Tresemme glossing spray - it's perfect to add a bit of life to the lengths of my hair and also gives it that extra gloss when straightening or curling it properly. The only skincare product I've been obsessed with this month is the Simple age resisting night cream. I haven't used this in ages but when I found it and used it again I remembered how much I love it. It's thick and so moisturising perfect after spending the day in a dry office and with this horrible weather - it's a night time saviour. 

Alongside this the Dr Jart + Water Fuse BB cream has been a brilliant base for my make-up. It's light and moisturising feel is brilliant in this cold weather. I've fallen back in love with with the Bourjois cream blush again after using it with my real techniques stippling brush. I've used it pretty much everyday this month - it's the perfect natural pinch with a hint of peach. Finally the Becca watermelon beach tint has come back in my life I mainly use it as a lip tint at the moment but equally love it as a blush for nights out.

I've always had a love for Tresemme as the products they produce and I buy never seem to let me down. My hair is not loving the winter cold and is awfully in need of huge amounts of moisture so I picked this up due to its sheer size (500ml) knowing it would easily see my locks through the winter months. It says its for heat damaged hair but I find it's just perfect for dry hair that needs extra nourishment. I find Tresemme products scent hard to put my finger on the only way to describe it is that salon scent that all Tresemme products have and that I really love. This hair masque is nothing revolutionary but it really does do the job - I put it through mid length to the ends and leave it in over night for super nourishment. This hair mask is amazing value for money though a 500ml tub for just over a fiver and often on offer is brilliant! This tub will be on my dresser all winter long, I'll be extra generous with it to make sure my hair doesn't completely dry out before spring comes around.

I keep trying to avoid going into town so I can attempt to save some money but I think it's just resulting in buying myself treats in supermarkets - mainly hair products. This week I picked up the tresemme glossing spray for a few reasons mainly because who doesn't want shiny locks like Kate Middleton, I do love Tresemme they never let me down, and it said argan oil on the bottle so I thought a little bit of nourishment wouldn't go a miss either. 

I've been using this for a few weeks now and I as I normally go for a matte textured (messy) hair look it's been quite nice spritzing this through the lengths of my hair to add a little shine. This spray is really light and once dry you can't feel it at all. It adds a really nice light gloss to the hair that looks really natural and healthy. I sometimes find glossing sprays a little greasy but this isn't at all. Overall I'tm really enjoying using it - it's adding nourishment and shine to my normally pretty limp and dry hair.

I've had this Tresemme Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Spray for a good few months but with the hot weather I just haven't had an opportunity to try it out properly. Now winter has set in my use of heat tools has too. I've been using this product before straightening and hair drying and I really like it. I was trying to figure out if it is any different to other heat protection sprays I've used and I'm not sure it is really but it ticks all my boxes. It smells really good, it leaves my hair shiny and protects it - a winner.

1. Clean and Clear Deep Cleansing Lotion - £2.99  
Love this cleansing lotion although I'd say it is more toner than cleansing. I blogged about the Clinique clarifying lotion in March here and although I loved it the Clean and Clear lotion is an amazing dupe but better. It's a hell of a lot cheaper and it doesn't feel as harsh on my skin. I've already repurchased this - it's a huge part of my skin routine both day and night and I think it's a product that's definitely around to stay.

2 & 3. Models Own Coral Reef & Nyla Nude - £5  (review)
I love both of these polishes and have used them pretty much daily since buying them both. I will of course be repurchasing as soon as Models Own facebook page hits 100,000 likes here. When they do they are giving 50% off everything so if you haven't liked them yet get over to the page and do it! I want so many new shades but holding out for this amazing offer!

4. Lancôme Teint Miracle Foundation SPF 15 30ml £23
I've been reaching for this a lot recently - I only have a miniature one I received in a Glossybox. I don't know why but I've been loving it more and more. It's lasted ages and I think a full bottle and full review will be on it's way very soon.

5. Tresemme Keratin Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner £4.99 each (review)
I love this shampoo and conditioner as previously reviewed but I can't find it in any stores at the moment! All the other Tresemme shampoo's are currently on offer in supermarkets so I've picked up a different type and will be reviewing soon. I'm a huge Tresemme fan so I'm looking forward to trying this new set out as I'm sure it won't disappoint.

Since destroying the ends of my hair with bleach and also not wanting to cut it out due to loving long hair I have become a bit of a hair care fiend. I am extremely loyal to the Boots Coconut Intensive Mask (review here) but I have been known to have a few affairs with masks on offer every now and again. This is no exception the Tresemme Keratin Deep Treatment Masque goes alongside the Shampoo and Conditioner I have been using (review).

First up I crazy love the smell of this product, I've had friends actually smell my head it smells that good. I am coconuts biggest fan when it comes to haircare but there is something in this that I just can't put my finger on but it just smells so good. I urge you all to open a tub of this or the shampoo and get sniffing you will leave with it in a carrier bag I assure you.

So does it work - I have found it to be really nourishing and leaves my hair really manageable and sleek afterwards. I'm not sure if it has any long lasting nourishment for my hair simply because I've been using so many hair products I can't really review that. However I love it - it smells fantastic and is super gloopy and I get a weird enjoyment about scooping it up and running it all over the ends of my hair. I am a little odd I know.

It's relatively new to the market and is in all the cosmetics, boots stores I've been however I can't for the life of me find it online. It retails for about £4.99 - £5.50 from what I've seen and I wish stores were making a bit more of a thing about this range as I've been really impressed so far with how much its restored my hair.

The new Tresemme Keratin Smooth range is right up my street. I am still trying to undo the mess I made to my hair from bleach, dye and a whole host of horrible products. Infused with Keratin each product aims to leave the hair sleek and manageable which is ideal for the way my hair is at the moment. I've always really loved Tresemme as a brand and when opening up these products I also realised I love Tresemme because I love the scent of their products. I don't really like a lot of the advertising campaigns showing women who think they've been to a salon but the products do genuinely smell like the hairdressers and I think this leaves you feeling like your hair has been treated more than with most products. 

I often find shampoo and conditioners hard to review because there is little different between them and if I'm honest I'll just buy what ever is on offer. However I did really enjoy using these two products. After leaving my hair to dry naturally the scent of the conditioner still lingers on my hair which I love it's also left my very frizzy ends looking noticeably smoother and on the whole my hair feels really soft and manageable. I have a few more products from the range that I'm going to give a go after the success of the shampoo and conditioner - I think the hair treatment mask has the possibility to really help my hair considering how lovely the shampoo and conditioner have left it so I'm really looking forward to using that now and I'll let you know how I get on soon.
