I have a lot of time for the L'Oreal color riche lipsticks I picked up in a recent Superdrug haul. They're a mixture of matte and satin finishes and come in a gorgeous gold bullet. Greige amoureux is my favourite day lip colour at the moment it's so easy to wear and is one of those 'can apply without a mirror' kind of shades that are perfect for work. For night time I'm in love with VIP its a matte pink toned red that is the perfect summer shade as it brightens up so many looks. Erotique is my least favorite it's brown tone as I think it just doesn't suit me but would be perfect with a more tanned complexion.

Top 5 MAC Lipsticks

 

I really love MAC lipsticks and think they're well worth spending a little more on. MAC has the widest colour and finish range so there's always going to be something in their collection for any look you're after. My favourite finish for day is cremesheen but I love matte and amplified for more evening looks or when I have a little more time to perfect my lip. I never see some of these shades in blog posts a lot so I thought I'd share my favorites. 

VEGAS VOLT is a gorgeous bright red toned coral that is the perfect for summer days or a nights out. I love FLAMINGO  it's a soft pink toned coral that is quite sheen so perfect for a pop of colour without too much maintenance. CORAL BLISS is my go to spring shade again a lovely pop of colour without being too pigmented - super easy to apply and a gorgeous finish. PEACH BLOSSOM is my all time favorite lipstick - I've nearly finished it which is such a rare thing for me. I will definitely repurchase this too I adore it. It's a warm peach shade that is the perfect day lipstick or it's perfect to compliment a smokey eye too. Finally PLEASE ME is my go to matte lip - perfect for more done up face as it's a gorgeous nude pink that goes with most looks.

Korres Pomegranate Lip Butter - Review

I've only tried a few Korres samples before but all the things I've tried have smelt amazing and been super lovely to use. I picked up the Korres pomegranate lip butter in a recent Beauty Expert haul and it's been in my desk at work ever since. It's very sheer but has a lovely pinky coral colour that just adds to the natural colour of the lip. It's the perfect office lip as in my opinion - it's buttery nourishment means the air con won't be chapping your lips between 9-5 and the slight tint gives the lip the perfect hint of 'I've made an effort'. It's currently £5.09 at Beauty Expert which I think is such good value for winter's lip cure with a hint of coral to take you into spring. 

Aesop Rosehip Lip Cream - Review

Shush don't tell the man in your life who has a joint clubcard with you but Tesco now double up clubcard vouchers for gift vouchers at beautyexpert.co.uk - needless to say I bought myself some treats. This being a completely unnecessary but so wanted purchase. This little lip cream is £10  I'm not sure I would normally pick up such an expensive little cream if I'm honest. However I've heard amazing things about Aesop and my lips are stupidly chapped due to this horrendous weather so I couldn't resist. I'm so so glad I did - normally all of the crap in lip products makes my lips worse but the natural ingredients in this little tube simply soothed my lips completely within just a few days. It also smells beautiful which is a lovely treat. I normally use cymex medicated cream to soothe my winter lips but it's not very attractive and smells pretty medicated. This is a lovely treat and change and I'm very glad I added it to my basket. I already have lots of Aesop treats on my wishlist and loving this product has definitely made me lust for them even more. 

Rimmel Matte Finish Lipstick Shade 107 Wine

I've used my Rimmel Matte lipstick in 110 a lot since purchasing and reviewing it back in February. It was quite a bold shade for the summer for me so when looking for a deeper red for the winter I thought it would be the perfect range to head back to. I really like the finish to this range - they are super pigmented and have a non-drying matte finish. I find them a little more satin than full on matte which I really like. Shade 110 is quite out there for me it's a deep red wine shade but it was just what I wanted for the winter and for Christmas parties. I wear a lot of black so I think this shade will offset it nicely. It's definitely not an everyday shade but I'm so glad I have something autumnal in my collection ready for parties!

The last thing I need in my collection is another nude lipstick but there I am surrounded by 3 for 2 signs in Boots swatching everything in site. The L'Oreal Collection Privee lipstick range is made up of 6 shades all chosen by the 6 L'Oreal spokeswomen the 6 shades are described as:

Doutzen Kroes: Barely Pink. A combination of freshness and femininity with a sprinkling of softness. The way this barely pink nuance melts into any type of complexion gives it indispensable elegance.

Julianne Moore: Barely Peach. Sensual and delicate to the extreme, enhances the radiance of pale complexions and endows them with elegance  and sophistication.

Eva Longoria: Barely Golden. With a hint of gold added, the best to capture the radiance of matte skin and sublimate the complexion, the sun‑kissed effect is worthy of the influential woman!

Freida Pinto: Barely Parma. Perfect for emphasizing the delicacy and elegance of the amber complexion. The ultimate in refinement, this shade evokes a freshness as well as sheer sophistication.

Cheryl: Barely Greige. Ultra-chic and rich in iridescence, barely greige offers a discreet contrast to the skin, thereby enhancing the natural beauty of the complexion.

I naturally picked up Cheryl's shade in barely greige. I really loved Julianne Moore's barely peach but I think I just love Cheryl a little more so that's why it ended up in my basket. I adore the packaging of this range it feels super luxe and the hint of gold against black makes it a gorgeous addition to my lipstick collection. The lipstick has a good pigmentation and a lovely creamy finish. I've been after a less pinky nude to my favourite MAC in hue so this fills that spot perfectly.

I haven't picked up a new lipstick in ages - after hanging about the MAC counter for a little while nothing really took my fancy then I stumbled across the Bourjois Shine lipstick range in boots and knew I needed to take some of them home. I picked shades 20 and 21 a sweet coral and brightish red. They are super pigmented but still quite sheer. You can make them completely vibrant by just adding a slick of stain underneath. I do love how sheer they are though as it means you can wear a pretty punchy colour in the day time. I can't wear lipgloss as something in it makes my lips flare up so a glossy lipstick with a buttery base is just perfect for me. This stuff really is so shiny. The wear on them is pretty normal on me they last 2-4 hours dependant on what I'm doing - however the glossy shiny texture that feels so moisturizing on the lips makes them so fun to apply. Bourjois hasn't really hit a bad note for me in ages and these are no exception - I adore them. They are a perfect in between if you don't want the texture and feel of a gloss but still want the full on shine with a moisturising punch. 

MUA Nectar - What colour is it?

I don't often venture into Superdrug all that often and when I do I always end up spending a few pounds on MUA products. I always have the problem at lipstick stands working out which shades I already own - I have too many lipsticks. However I only have a few MUA lipsticks and I new I didn't own the bright coral shade I swatched called Nectar - Shade 16. I came home and checked what shades I did actually own and was obviously pretty annoyed with myself at buying the exact same shade as one I already owned. 

The Necat shade 16 I picked up today is a bright orange toned coral. The one I already owned is a lighter more nude toned coral. Exact same packaging and shade number. Surely if you're going to release a new shade you'd give it a new name and shade number. They are not even close in shade as you can see above. Although initially annoyed that I bought the same shade I'm glad they don't match as I love both shades. The one I bought today glides on well like all MUA lipsticks and is the night out handbag accompaniment as you won't mind losing it for just £1. The downside to this lipstick is that it doesn't last very long but for the price you can't really complain. 

As happy as I am about it not being the same shade that I own attempting to replace either of this will be so hard - it also makes my standard do I own this shade debate even harder! Has anyone else found this with any MUA shades?

Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede - 060 It Girl

One of my favourite lipsticks of all time is the Revlon Matte collection and overall Revlon are probably my favourite high street brand for lipstick. The ColorStay Ultimate Suede collection promises to give both moisture and a long last finish - marketing it by being able to apply first thing in the morning and leaving your lipstick at home it will still be there in the evening. This instantly appealed as I tend to forget to reapply throughout the day and it's good to know colour is still there without you having to check and top up. 

I picked up shade 060 It Girl which is a soft peachy pink with a hint of shimmer to it. I love the shade it's perfect for this bit of summer we're currently getting and glides on effortlessly. It feels almost a bit tacky as it dries on to my lips then dries - once dried it does stop you being able to rub your lips together unless you lick them. I didn't mind this but the tackiness as it dries isn't the nicest feeling in the world. 

It lasts a good 4 hours without budging if you're just drinking and going about your morning however I do find a meal does really wear it off. However topping up after lunch isn't the worst thing and it does wear off really evenly. I do find I need to rub any excess off before reapplying though as putting it on top of itself gives a not very nice build up of product on the creases in my lip. Overall I do really love this lip product and have been wearing it all week long, it's got such a lovely finish to it that looks perfectly moisturised for the summer. I can imagine a lot more of these entering my lipstick collection soon designer, finale and couture all look amazing too. 

Revlon Baby Stick - Pink Passion

After finishing a lent beauty spending ban I went a little crazy in boots (standard) and this cute little dual purpose product caught my eye immediately. In my haul I picked up all the beauty bits I've been lusting after during lent but this was completely unknown. I hadn't read anything about it or really heard much on it all but it was cute and pink and I needed it.

The Revlon baby stick comes in three shades, this bright pink (pink passion) a bright red (sunset) and also lighter coral toned pink (tahitian). I was immediately drawn to Tahition but when swatching in store I just got no colour pay off at all. I thought it maybe a dodgy tester but thought I'd be careful and buy the shade that had a good colour pay off. Mind you it is doesn't have anywhere near as much pigment as it does in the stick. The swatch above is a good 10 swipes to get that colour.

I really wanted to love this product as it is an ideal handbag essential but it just did nothing for me. It completely dried out my lips as you can see above. I love a matte lipstick and never have problems with them but this accentuated any dryness in my lips and just made them feel tight and unloved. I can't even say it's a good stain because it is so drying you can't put anything on top of it without that lip product looking awful too.

On the cheeks it is a little better but it isn't a good blush at all. It gives a pop of colour but it's awfully greasy to apply and looks out of place with my other make-up. It kind of makes my cheeks look oily and it slid off pretty quickly. I really wanted to like this as I've had such good experiences with lots of other revlon products but this just didn't do it for me at all. I've picked up some other reviews since my experience and I do think this is easily the most pigmented shade from seeing other swatches but it just doesn't translate onto the skin very nicely at all. I feel a little happier that this was part of a 3 for 2 as it isn't worth a penny of its £6.99 price tag sadly.

I'm such a sucker for a gimmick - hence this purchase. The L'Oreal Studio Secrets Universal Lip Glow isn't a particularly new product to the market but it is new to my collection. I was in lipstick mode a few weeks ago and picked this up along with others that featured on the blog. Obviously you can't swatch this on lips in a shop so I picked it up purely through the intrigue of wondering what colour it would appear on my lips.

For those that haven't spotted this product before the lipstick is a see through orange pink and once applied it adapts to the moisture and colour of your lips to create a unique pink shade. I think what it actually does is enhance the natural pigment to the lip and give a lovely moisturised glow to them. I really like this product to be honest despite it's gimmick it's a nice work lipstick that can be applied without a mirror. It keeps lips moisturised and also gives a nice pink tone. I'm glad intrigue won out and made me pick this up.

Rimmel Kate Matte Lipstick Shade 110

I've been searching for a wearable red lipstick that doesn't completely wash me out - I've found it in this delicious orange toned red from the Rimmel Kate range. It has a velvety texture and after a few coats gives really good coverage. I can't wait to sport this with a black dress and a bit of a tan on a night out in a few weeks. It's the red I've been looking for and it's matte which is a bit like a dream for me. I don't really like the packaging of this lipstick something about the bright red and black  together don't really do anything for me but I'll let it go as I love the shade too much. 

L'Oreal Colour Riche Rose Tendre 303

I go through massive phases with my purchases and right now I'm definitely in lipstick zone. I picked up this L'Oreal Colour Riche Rose Tendre 303 in Asda for like £1.50 and upon searching the web I think it's because it's discontinued but it is available still at feel unique. I got a little over excited in Asda surrounded by £1.50 lipsticks that I didn't even notice the 'blondes' tag to this lipstick. This lipstick is designed for blondes and fair skin tones however I think other's could kind of work with it. I don't really like the blue toned shimmer than runs through it. However saying that it is super creamy to apply and a nice light pink that can be worn day to day. I'm glad I picked it up as I don't really have a pink like it - it's super pigmented too and lasts pretty well. It's made me want to try different color riche shades - I like the idea of a range designed for different hair colours/ skin tones but I cross over quite a few of the brackets so not sure how useful it is. It's a little pigeon holing and I think it takes the fun out of swatching a hundred lipsticks to find the shade you want and that suits you. 

Rimmel Apocalips Luna

I've read so much about Apocalips in the last few weeks and had to get my hands on it. After seeing all the shades swatched so amazingly over on Katies Beauty Blog I knew Luna would be the shade for me. I'm a massive fan of coral lip shades and normally head for more of a matte finish but this product is a dream to wear. It glides on super smoothly and really lasts a good amount of time for me. I normally can't wear anything with as much gloss to this as my lips are really sensitive but this product has an almost cream like texture to it and leaves a gorgeous not overly glossy look. I adore it and of course have now added lots more shades to my wish list. They are currently 3 for 2 at boots so it would only be fair to add stella, big bang and nova to my collection.
